What it checks
A subtitle displayed for longer than the profile's maximum duration produces one issue.
How it is measured
- Duration = end time โ start time, computed exactly.
- The maximum can be declared in milliseconds, seconds or frames. Frames use the frame rate of the profile's writer configuration.
- When CueNorm validates a file it has just written, the maximum is first projected onto the output's time grid, rounded up, so a subtitle of exactly the maximum length never fails because of quantization.
Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
duration |
duration (ms, s or f) |
Maximum display duration |
Example
With duration: 7s, a subtitle displayed from 00:10:00.000 to 00:10:08.200 is reported as 8.200 s (maximum 7.000 s).
How to fix
- End the subtitle earlier, when the dialogue has finished.
- Split long text into two consecutive subtitles.
- Check for a timing error: an out time that was never set, or a subtitle extended over a silence.
